Well what can you say.
We arrived on Thursday about 15.00 and started to unpack. We were the first to arrive. And then I opened a can of Hansa beer. We talked to some of the teams that had arrived, Bigga and others.
As we should not drive before 18.00 on friday we did not get up early. We had a breakfast with eggs and bacon. So the day went on slowly until I could pickup the startpapers. I got it about 15.30. Then came Konrad Ree to do the technical check of the car and equipment. It went ok and we got out technical ok badge to put on the car. Then we had to wait for the doctor to arrive, so we did not start to race before 19.00. You can say that I had butterflies in my stumach. I did two drag that day and neither was good. I managed to get above 17 seconds and 96 km/h. And I was of course bullyed by the more exprienced drivers. I was as expected. But I was the first time I had every drived that car on the strip. So I took it as a man.
On Saturday i had to show my drivers license and attend a drivers meeting before the racing starts. As we were in the Sportsman class we was one of the first to race. So I had to put on my racing clothing and climb in to the car. I did not do well this time either due to a problem getting it in second shift. But well I was a rookie. The next time around I manged to do a great race in my standers, 11.9 secons and 183 km/h. I was satisfied. But I discoverd that the Oil presseure lamp was illuminated, so we had to check that. It was decided that the we could do more runs. I then sat down og waited for ned round of qualifying. We out turn came around I was ready and tried to start up the car. But it would not start. The crew cheef said the the car was completely dead and it was decided to check the ignition. The igniton was fine and the car started. It then had to be something wrong with the battery. So we decided to stand over a round so that the battery could be charged. This time around we had to start and stop the car a lot before we arrived on the starting line. So after a bad burnout (nearly hit the tree) the car died and was not able to start. We had to push it back to the pits. We then decided to stop for the day and charged the battery over night. We planned to do one or two drag tomorrow and skip the eliminations. We tried to borrow a battery from Bigga but it was to big to fit.
On Sunday everyting when down the drain. The driver, the battery and the bus. I was in bed about 02.00, deeply depressed.
